    Saturday, May 4th 2019

Empowering teachers and empowering learners means recognizing that we all have the power we need to control our own teaching and learning -- and the power to claim our rights both inside and outside the classroom. This year’s Spring Workshop theme is all about helping teachers and learners feel stronger, more confident, and able to access all the resources we need to be leaders.

    This years workshop threads include:

    Empowering Teachers

    • Professional development, collaboration, and mentoring

    • Social justice leadership skills for promoting equity, inclusion, and diversity

    • Skills, resources, and ideas for community-based learning, nonprofit partnership, grant writing, locating and creating alternative learning resources

    Empowering Learners

    • Skills, technology, and other tools for promoting autonomy

    • Alternative materials and content that promotes diverse viewpoints

    • Strategies for goal setting, self-reflection, self-assessment, and motivation

    • Helping learners get more deeply engaged in institutional, community, and civic leadership opportunities, clubs that promote learning, and ways of finding resources to meet basic needs
