The Award of Excellence in Teaching
ORTESOL acknowledges all ESOL teachers, trainers and volunteers who have demonstrated resilience and compassion as they put students at the center of their work. ORTESOL especially wants to credit a stand-out individual who has been a beacon to peers. You may have a person in mind who has become a shining star in your organization or community. If so, please consider nominating them for this distinction.

Who is Eligible?
Currently teaching faculty or staff in a English as a Second Language Program.
Current ORTESOL Board and SIG Team members are not eligible for Awards of Excellence.
Criteria
Criteria for selection by the ORTESOL Grants & Awards Committee will include the following.
- Addressing and meeting student needs
- Clarity of communication of knowledge in the ESOL subject area
- Embracing and demonstrating new ways in teaching (through technology or other modes)
- Application of equity and inclusion in teaching practice
- Leadership, inspiration, and encouragement among peers

Recipients will be recognized during the closing session at the ORTESOL Fall Conference. Recognition will include a cash prize and an optional ORTESOL membership or conference fee.
