The NEW TEACHER Grant

These support grants are specifically to assist new teachers as they build their personal/professional teaching resources. These funds have been generously donated by ORTESOL members, and function to further our mission to inspire and support teachers of English to speakers of other languages through professional development, research, coalition-building, and advocacy so that learners and communities thrive

How to Apply: Complete the application form

Who is Eligible:

    • A current teacher, tutor, classroom aide, or other instructional professional or volunteer who is new to the field of TESOL, having begun work with EL learners within the last 3 years  
    • Current ORTESOL members 
    • Oregon residents and those who physically work in Oregon
Expectations:

      Those who receive financial support from this grant are required to find a way to contribute to the ORTESOL community. Grantees will be asked to complete a form on how their funds were used to support their students' learning; Recipients are also encouraged to submit an ORTESOL blog article, social media post, or other written summary about their experience or apply to present at the next ORTESOL fall conference. In addition,

        • Awardees should be good stewards of grant funds. 
        • Grant dollars must be used for their intended purpose.

        • professional development
        • class projects
        • books and supplies
        • subscriptions
        • memberships
        • technology
        • any other material or intangible related to teaching English
